Coffee Blends

Kenya is renowned for producing some of the world’s finest coffee, known for its bright acidity, full-bodied flavor, and complex profile.

Arabica Coffee

Kenya produces Arabica coffee almost exclusively (around 95% of total production). Arabica beans are prized for their smooth, refined flavors, and they typically have a higher acidity, lighter body, and more complex taste profile than Robusta beans. Kenyan Arabica coffee is especially known for its bright acidity, fruity undertones, and floral notes, which come from the unique growing conditions in the country.

Our Coffee Grades

AA Grade

Size: 17/18 screen size

Quality: This is the highest grade of coffee from Kenya and is considered to be the most premium. It is typically grown at higher altitudes (above 1,500 meters) and is known for its bright acidity, full body, and complex flavor profiles.”

Flavor: Known for rich, wine-like acidity, vibrant flavors, and a fruity profile, often with notes of citrus, berry, or tropical fruits. It’s also characterized by a smooth, clean cup with a refined aftertaste.

AB Grade

Size: 14/16 screen size

Quality: While still of high quality, AB grade is slightly smaller than AA beans but still delivers excellent flavor. AB beans are often a blend of AA beans and smaller beans.

Flavor: The taste is similar to AA but usually with slightly less acidity and complexity, though it can still be bright, with fruity and floral notes.

C Grade

Size: Smaller beans, often mixed with defects or lower-quality beans

Quality: C-grade coffee is considered to be of lower quality than AA or AB. It is typically used for commercial purposes and blends.

Flavor: The flavor is less vibrant, with lower acidity and a flatter taste profile. The coffee may have some off-flavors due to the inclusion of defective beans.

PB Grade (Peaberry)

Size: Peaberry beans are a rare type of coffee bean that forms when only one of the two beans in a coffee cherry develops, resulting in a smaller, rounder bean.

Quality: Peaberry beans can come from various altitudes and farms, but they are prized for their unique shape and sometimes more intense flavor. They can range in quality from medium to high.

Flavor: Known for a more concentrated flavor, sometimes with sharper acidity and a more intense aroma than regular beans.

TT Grade (Tinged or Mixed Beans)

Size: Smaller beans, typically with a mix of defective beans

Quality: TT grade represents the lowest quality of Kenyan coffee beans. These beans have significant defects or are often overripe or damaged.

Flavor: The flavor is often muddled or off, lacking the crispness and brightness of higher grades.
